Requena Full-Day Wine Tasting Tour
Overview
Spend a full day among the vineyards and cellars of Requena, the largest wine town of DO Utiel-Requena, one of Spain's oldest wine regions (established in 1932). The vines grow on a high plateau at around 700 metres between the Turia and Cabriel rivers, where hot days and cool nights suit Bobal, the local red grape that covers most of the region.
Wine tasting tours here typically take you to family wineries and larger estates in the countryside around Requena, where you walk through the vineyards, see the fermentation tanks and barrel cellars, and taste the wines with the people who make them: deep Bobal reds, fresh rosés and sparkling wines, often with local cheese and cured sausage. Many tours also stop in Requena's medieval quarter, La Vila, a protected historic district whose underground caves, the Cuevas de la Villa, were dug beneath the houses and used for centuries to store wine and food.
Requena has been named Spanish City of Wine 2026, and every late summer it holds the Fiesta de la Vendimia, Spain's oldest harvest festival, celebrated since 1947.
