Overview

In Madrid, dinner is a moving feast. On this evening walk a local guide takes you from bar to bar through the old centre, the way madrileños do it: a small plate and a drink at each stop, standing at the counter or squeezed round a barrel.

You'll taste the classics, such as crisp croquetas, patatas bravas, jamón carved from the leg and tortilla de patatas, alongside local wine, vermouth or a caña of beer. Between stops your guide tells the story of the streets around Plaza Mayor and the Barrio de las Letras, where Cervantes and Lope de Vega once lived, and shares tips for the rest of your stay.

It's a relaxed way to start a city break and to find the bars you'll want to go back to.
