Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park Island Hopping
Overview
Five forested islands lie just off Kota Kinabalu, protected as the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park. A short boat ride from Jesselton Point and you're on a white-sand beach with clear, warm water for swimming and snorkelling.
A typical day visits two islands. Manukan is the most developed, with a long beach, a jetty, cafés and snorkelling straight off the sand. Sapi is smaller and wilder, with a sandbar towards Gaya Island and monitor lizards wandering the forest edge. Mamutik is the quiet alternative.
You choose how to spend the time: snorkel among the fish, swim, walk a forest trail or just lie under the trees with a view of the city skyline across the water.
