Kinabalu Park & Poring Hot Springs Day Trip
Overview
Leave the coast behind for the cool air of Kinabalu Park, Malaysia's first UNESCO World Heritage Site, protected for the extraordinary range of plants that grow on the slopes of Mount Kinabalu.
The road climbs into the hills, with a stop at the roadside market at Nabalu for tropical fruit and handicrafts and, on a clear morning, a view of the granite peaks. At park headquarters you walk through the botanical garden, home to pitcher plants and wild orchids.
In the afternoon you continue to Poring, on the edge of the park, where a canopy walkway sways between giant trees high above the forest floor, and hot mineral springs fill open-air tubs. Have a soak before the drive back to Kota Kinabalu.
