Overview

Get your bearings in Sabah's capital on a relaxed half-day tour. Kota Kinabalu sits between the sea and green hills, and this tour shows you both.

Start at the City Mosque on Likas Bay, whose white walls and blue domes seem to float on the lagoon around it. Pass the tall Wisma Tun Mustapha building and drive up Signal Hill, the highest point in the city centre, for the view over the rooftops to the islands of the marine park. Depending on the tour, there's a stop at the Sabah Museum to learn about the state's many ethnic groups.

The tour ends near the waterfront and its handicraft market. If you're in town on a Sunday morning, don't miss the street market on Gaya Street, with fruit, cakes, plants and crafts.
