Seven Sisters waterfall hike
Overview
The Seven Sisters are a series of waterfalls hidden in the rainforest on the eastern side of the Grand Etang Forest Reserve, and reaching them is half the fun. You're collected from your hotel and driven up into the mountains, usually with a short stop at the Grand Etang crater lake.
From the trailhead near Birchgrove, a guided walk of about an hour each way follows a narrow path through a spice plantation and then dense forest, with tree ferns, bamboo and the calls of birds overhead. The trail is often muddy and has some steep sections, and your guide will help you on the slippery parts.
At the bottom, two of the falls drop into deep, cool pools where you can swim. Bring a swimsuit and a towel, and enjoy a rest by the water before the walk back up.
