Christ the Redeemer & Sugarloaf Mountain Tour
Overview
Rio's two great viewpoints in one outing, with a guide to handle the queues and the traffic. First comes Corcovado: you go up through the Tijuca forest by the little cog train from Cosme Velho or by official van, and step out beneath Christ the Redeemer. The statue, completed in 1931, stands 30 metres tall with its arms spread 28 metres wide, and the city, the lagoon and the beaches lie spread out 700 metres below.
Next you head to Urca for the Sugarloaf cable car. The first car climbs to Morro da Urca; the second swings up to the summit of Sugarloaf, 396 metres above the entrance to Guanabara Bay. From the top you look back at Corcovado, along Copacabana beach and across the bay to Niterói.
Go early for the clearest skies on Corcovado, or ask for an afternoon departure to see the city light up from Sugarloaf at sunset.

Frequently asked questions
Corcovado is often in cloud, especially in the afternoon. Your guide can adjust the order of the visits, and we can suggest the best day once you are in Rio.
Not much. There are lifts and escalators at Corcovado, but expect some steps and standing in queues at busy times.
