Tigre Delta Half-Day Tour with Boat Trip
Overview
Half an hour north of the city, the Paraná Delta breaks into hundreds of river channels and wooded islands, one of the largest deltas in the world. Tigre is the gateway, and this half-day tour shows you both the town and the water.
The drive out follows the River Plate through the northern suburbs, usually with a stop in San Isidro for its cathedral and riverside views. In Tigre you board a boat and head into the delta, past rowing clubs, weekend houses on stilts, jetties and the wooden launches that serve as buses, shops and school runs for the island families.
Back on land there's often time at the Puerto de Frutos, the old fruit port on the Luján River that's now a busy craft and furniture market, before the drive back to Buenos Aires.
