Mount Fuji & Lake Kawaguchiko Day Trip
Overview
See Mount Fuji from its most photographed side on a full-day coach tour from central Tokyo. The road climbs to the Fuji Five Lakes on the mountain's northern slopes, where Lake Kawaguchiko mirrors the snow-capped cone on calm days.
Typical stops include the Chureito Pagoda, reached by around 400 steps, where the five-storey pagoda frames Fuji in the postcard view; Oshino Hakkai, a village of clear spring-fed ponds filled by snowmelt from the mountain; and time by the lake for lunch, a ropeway ride or a walk along the shore.
Tours leave from Tokyo Station or Shinjuku in the morning and return in the evening. Fuji is often shy behind cloud, so visibility can't be guaranteed; autumn and winter mornings give the best chance.
