Hiroshima & Miyajima Day Tour

Hiroshima and Miyajima
7–8 hours
Day trip
The great torii of Itsukushima Shrine in the sea
Atomic Bomb Dome, Hiroshima
Itsukushima Shrine halls over the water
Ferry to Miyajima with Mount Misen behind

Overview

Two of Japan's most moving sights in one day. In Hiroshima your guide leads you through the Peace Memorial Park, past the skeletal Atomic Bomb Dome, the Children's Peace Monument hung with paper cranes and the Cenotaph, and into the Peace Memorial Museum, which tells the story of 6 August 1945 and the city's rebirth.

After lunch, a short ferry crossing brings you to Miyajima, where Itsukushima Shrine and its great vermilion torii appear to float on the sea at high tide. Wander Omotesando's shopping street, try grilled oysters or maple-leaf momiji manju cakes, and watch the island's tame deer.

Inclusions vary by operator: some include the ferry and entry fees, others leave them to you. Lunch is usually extra.
