Overview

Explore Nepal brings remarkable variety into one 11-night journey: living heritage in the Kathmandu Valley, Himalayan views around Pokhara, traditional hill-town life in Tansen, the Buddhist sacred landscape of Lumbini and wildlife in Chitwan National Park. It's built for travellers who want culture, nature and mountain scenery without committing to a full trek.

You start among the stupas and Newar villages of the Kathmandu Valley, then drive to Pokhara for a boat ride on Phewa Lake and sunrise over the Annapurna range from Sarangkot, weather permitting. The quiet hill town of Tansen and Srinagar Hill come next, then Lumbini, where you tour the Sacred Garden by rickshaw. In Chitwan, the lodge arranges jungle activities, birdwatching and river trips.

Back in Kathmandu you visit Bhaktapur, Boudhanath and Pashupatinath, take an early-morning mountain flight for close-up views of Everest, and end with a farewell Nepali and Newari dinner with folk music and dance. English-speaking guides, entrance tickets and transport between the stops are included. Tell us your dates and we'll tailor the rest.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a trekking holiday?

No. It's a cultural journey with nature and wildlife, for travellers who want mountain scenery without a full trek. Expect walking at heritage sites and an early start for sunrise at Sarangkot.

Will I see Everest?

The early-morning mountain flight from Kathmandu lasts about 50 minutes and passes Everest and other Himalayan peaks. Like the Sarangkot sunrise, it depends on the weather.

Which meals are included?

Breakfast every day, full board at the lodge in Chitwan and the farewell dinner in Kathmandu. Most other lunches and dinners are not included, so you can try local restaurants.

Do I need a visa for Nepal?

UK citizens can currently get a tourist visa on arrival in Kathmandu; the fee depends on the length of stay and isn't included. Your passport must be valid for six months. Check the latest rules before you travel.

When is the best time to go?

October and November bring the clearest mountain views, and March to May is also a good time. The monsoon, from June to September, brings most of the year's rain.
