Tanini Kinabatangan

Overview
Tanini Kinabatangan (formerly Nature Lodge Kinabatangan) is a rustic riverside lodge in the Lower Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary, across the river from the village of Bilit. You arrive by road from Sandakan, about two hours, then a boat ride of a few minutes takes you over to the lodge.
Rooms are wooden chalets on stilts, linked by raised boardwalks through the forest. The Bangkatan chalets have an ensuite shower and toilet and air conditioning, with twin, double or triple beds.
Life here follows the river. Boats head out in the early morning and late afternoon, when proboscis monkeys gather in the riverside trees and hornbills fly over the water; with luck you may see macaques, crocodiles or a herd of Bornean pygmy elephants. Meals are served in the open-sided restaurant, with free-flow coffee, tea and water.

FAQs about Tanini Kinabatangan
By road from Sandakan to Bilit, about two hours, then a short boat crossing to the lodge. Your transfers are arranged as part of the itinerary.
On our Malaysia with Borneo Multicentre Adventure you stay in a Bangkatan Cabin on a full board basis.
Bornean pygmy elephants roam the Kinabatangan floodplain, but they move with the seasons and sightings are never guaranteed. Proboscis monkeys and hornbills are seen far more often.
