Borneo Sepilok Rainforest Resort

Overview
Borneo Sepilok Rainforest Resort sits in the forest on Jalan Sepilok, outside Sandakan, a short walk from Sepilok's three big draws: the Rainforest Discovery Centre, the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre. It's an easy base for an early start at orangutan feeding time.
The resort is built in dark timber that blends into the greenery, with chalet-style rooms linked by wooden boardwalks through gardens. Rooms have air conditioning, a private balcony looking into the trees, and tea and coffee facilities.
At the centre of the resort is a swimming pool on a large wooden deck, ideal after a humid morning in the forest. The open-air restaurant serves local and Asian dishes with some international favourites, and the bar opens in the evening, when the forest gets noisy with insects and frogs.
