Arenal Hot Springs Evening
Overview
The water that heats Arenal's hot springs comes from deep under the volcano, and along the road west of La Fortuna several parks have turned it into gardens of thermal pools. They range from simple natural pools by a river to large landscaped complexes such as Baldi, with dozens of pools at different temperatures, waterfalls, slides and swim-up bars.
The best time to go is late afternoon. After a day of walking, you slip into the warm water as the light fades, move between hotter and cooler pools, and stay for dinner at the park's buffet. The pools are lit in the evening and stay open until late.
We book the entrance at a well-run, good-value park, with dinner if you want it, and can add a taxi or shuttle from your hotel. It's an easy, relaxing evening that suits all ages.
