The Crane Resort
Overview
The Crane has welcomed guests on its low cliff above Crane Beach since 1887 and calls itself the oldest continuously operating hotel in the Caribbean. Below it lies a long beach of soft, pink-tinged sand with a coconut grove, where a reef shelters the swimming area from the Atlantic swell. A staircase and a glass-fronted lift take you down, and loungers, umbrellas and towels at the Beach Hut are free for guests.
Up on the clifftop, the adults-only Historic Pool is framed by Doric columns about 50 feet above the sand, and the 1.5-acre Cliff Pool Complex cascades towards the ocean with a waterfall pool, a spa pool and a children's wading pool. Dining spreads across several venues, from The Grove Beach Bar and Grill and The Carriage House to Zen, Azure, Poesia No. 3, the Village Cafe and Bar 1887.
Junior Suites have a hand-crafted four-poster king bed, a bay-window seating area, a mini kitchen, a bathroom with a soaking tub and spa shower, and a garden-view terrace. There is also Serenity Spa, Calypso Kids Club, a gym and floodlit tennis courts. The airport is under five miles away.
